How to enable 2FA for your Amazon account

Two-factor authentication (2FA) protects your Amazon account even if your password leaks. Follow the steps below to generate Amazon verification codes with the Authenticator App on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
Open your account and go to Login & security
Sign in to Amazon on the website, hover over "Account & Lists" in the top-right corner, and select "Account."
Choose Login & security
From your account page, click the "Login & security" tile to open the page where your sign-in and verification settings live.
Edit Two-Step Verification settings
On the Login & security page, find "Two-Step Verification (2SV) Settings" and click "Edit" next to it.
Click Get Started
Select "Get Started" to begin enrolling a new two-step verification method. (If you already use another method, choose to add a new Authenticator App instead.)

When asked how you want to receive codes, choose the "Authenticator App" option rather than text message.
View the QR code Amazon displays
Amazon now shows a QR code that contains your secret key. Leave this page open on your computer as you pick up your iPhone. If you can't scan it, use the "Can't scan the barcode?" link to reveal the secret key for manual entry.
Scan the QR code with your Authenticator App
Open the Authenticator App on your iPhone, tap the + button, and hold your phone up to the screen to scan the QR code shown by Amazon.
Let the app add your Amazon account
After scanning, the Authenticator App automatically fills in the Amazon account name and secret key and starts generating a 6-digit code. Confirm to save the new Amazon entry in the app.
Enter the 6-digit code on Amazon
Read the 6-digit code now shown for Amazon in your Authenticator App and type it into the field below the QR code on the Amazon website, then confirm to verify the connection.
Add a backup method
On the "Add backup method" page, add a backup phone number so you can still receive a code if you lose access to your authenticator app, then continue.
Two-Step Verification is enabled
Two-step verification is now turned on for your Amazon account. From now on, you'll enter a code from your Authenticator App in addition to your password each time you sign in.

On the "Add backup method" page, add a backup phone number so you can still receive a code if you lose access to your authenticator app, then continue.
That's it — your Amazon account is now protected with two-factor authentication. Keep your recovery information safe and follow the service's official documentation if its interface changes.
